Mocha Mousse: The Color of the Year 2025 and Why It Matters

What does the color of the year (COTY) actually have to do with you?

Well, you may not see it immediately, or you may have caught on as we reach the tail end of January. Mocha Mousse has officially entered the room and will certainly be a show-stopper in all aspects as we progress into 2025.

This rich, warm, and earthy color will soon sweep the world, literally. The color of the year, presented by Pantone, has an influence that you'll see in your local Target store and on the runway.

Mocha Mousse or 17-1230, signifies where we are as people on this planet and where we hope to be. Think it is not that deep? I promise it is.

Let's take Peach Fuzz, for example, the color of 2024. She did her thing indeed but did not make as much noise as the year had predicted. Peach Fuzz wasn't what we wanted, but what we needed, in my humble opinion. A hopeful color to shout about and flirt with all 2024: this was an inspiring shade during a year where there was what seemed to be too much movement and constant shifts.

Color is powerful.

Color touches technology, fashion, film, and music. From the bubblegum pink dress to the Oscars that Ariana Grande rocked, to the Dior pallet that seemed like a dream, Peach Fuzz (and PF adjacent) had an influence that reached new heights. Now that we have an idea of what kind of influence the color of the year can have, let's talk more about our newcomer, Mocha Mousse.

Yes, beautiful, packs a punch, and spicy. Mocha Mousse is fine and deep with a touch of sweetness. MM is already in some of my favorite shops, and the given color of 2025 has been getting more confident since mid-2024, if we're being honest.

The color of the year matters because one thing about the US of A is we're influenced. Sure, some of us are a hard sell, but our eyes will meet marketing and ads targeted straight towards us whether we want to notice it or not.
